The Wine Sisters are Erin and Courtney Henderson - sister sommeliers who love to eat, drink, and be pretty merry.
You could say our love of wine runs in the family. When we were kids, our dad, who also worked in the wine business, would travel the world's wine regions and come home with enchanting tales of the champagne caves in France or the impossibly steep vineyard slopes in Germany.
We like to joke that when all the other kids were learning to ride their bikes, we were learning about fermentation.
Well, fast forward 20 years or so, and we've both earned our sommelier certification through CAPS. We went on to work as sommeliers and restaurant managers in Toronto, and in 2010 we decideded to open our own sommelier services and wine events agency.
And so just like our Dad did with us, we're now telling others about wine regions we've visited and new wines we've tasted. And we can't wait to talk with you about it, too.

Excited to see this return to Vintages, as it's a fantastic red Burgundy at a terrific price. Bright and fresh with red raspberry, wild flowers, light spice and mineral notes. Juicy palate with vibrant acidity and great length, try this with prime rib or roast pork tenderloin.

Burrowing Owl Merlot 2010, VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$39.95
Aromas of concentrated red cherry, plum, and a slight hickory smoke note. Juicy flavours of red cherry, plum and raspberry, with a subtle earthiness and some spice. Medium bodied with fine but firm tannins and balanced acidity. Overall, a joy to drink.

Zanna Riserva Montepulciano D'abruzzo Colline Teramane 2007, Docg
Abruzzo, Italy$34.95
Still dark purple ruby, this has an intriguing nose of soy sauce, celery salt, baked dark fruit, sun dried tomato, and black marker. Concentrated and dense on the palate with grippy, sticky tannin and flavours of dark berries, tamarind paste, cooking spice, black olive, rosemary/sage herbs and leather. Old world Italian that after five years old it could still use some time, but very enjoyable and worth picking up for the cellar.

Masculine, edgy and powerful with intriguing aromas of blackberry, dried herbs, dark chocolate, spice and ink. Grippy with firm tannin on the palate and concentrated flavours of spice, bing cherry, coffee bean, blackberry, old leather and a certain meatiness. Enjoy with steak au poivre or grilled lamb with rosemary.

Lallier Grande Réserve Grand Cru Brut Champagne

A beautifully balanced and sophisticated bubbly of fantastic value. Rich and full bodied with creamy marzipan, shortbread cookie, lemon curd and ginger spice flavours. Creamy texture with soft bubbles and a refreshing seam of acidity. Wonderfully elegant.

13th Street Premier Cuvée 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula, Traditional Method
Ontario, Canada$34.95
A fine example of why Ontario can produce world class sparklers. Fresh and bright, with aromas and flavours of lemon cake, brioche and yellow apple. Delicate bubbles and excellent balance make for an elegant pretty wine that can be paired with everything from fresh seafood to fruity desserts, or simply enjoyed solo.

An exciting and exuberant bubbly that is bright, clean and fun. With a fine mousse and zesty lemon-lime, kiwi and lychee notes, this is an elegant fizz with lots of crowd appeal. Try with grilled proscuitto and asparagus appetizers or mildly spicy crab cakes.

Malivoire Chardonnay 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula

This is a wine that certainly punches above its weight for value and quality. Flavours of baking spice, clementine orange, ripe orchard fruit and a mineral finish, this is a constant in our cellars. Enjoy with grilled halibut or salmon, roast chicken or medium hard cheeses like Mimolette or aged Cheddar.

Cave Spring Estate Cabernet Franc 2007, Cave Spring Vineyard, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
This is a terrific showing of what Ontario can do with Cab Franc. Aged 13 months in a blend of French, Hungarian and American oak, 45% of which was new, this is is quite the powerhouse red coming from the hot ’07 vintage. Ripe aromas of cassis and dark cherry with some face cream and a hint of iodine/bloody notes. Full bodied with concentrated flavours of cassis, earth, fruit roll-up, spice and black licorice, Powerful but elegant with fine tannin, balanced acidity and nice length. Ready to drink now with roast game or braised beef.

A very nice Chardonnay that balances ripe tropical fruit flavours with lime and mineral. Fresh and focused with restrained oak and bright acidity with great length.
