Scarbolo Ilramato Pinot Grigio 2022, D.O.C. Friuli
Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy$29.19
Orange in colour, looks good in the glass. Quite nice with citrus and berry aromas and some peppery notes. I liked the herbal and berry territory it moved into. Certainly not your typical Italian PG.
Sapientia Verdejo Ecologico 2018, Rueda Do
Rueda, Spain$21.95
Smooth and round. Well described by the Wine Align expert team. Quite delicious.
Bartier Bros. Syrah Cerqueira Vineyard 2018, Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$34.59
Concentrated fruit balanced with some tannin and nice fresh acidity. Youthful at this time so probably has room to age further. (September 2023)
Cono Sur Bicicleta Viognier Reserva 2020, Central Valley
Central Valley, Chile$14.05
Outstanding value! Floral, peach-mango, creamy with a spicy finish. Ripe and flavourful.
Palavrar Vinhas Velhas Red 2017, Duoro
Douro, Portugal$34.09
I found this wine to be fresher than expected for a Douro red. It had a nice tinge of acidity. At the same time, a good depth of fruit as well. Very food friendly.
Tasted August, 2024.
Featherstone Phoenix 2020, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$18.95
A very good gewurz at this price, in a dry, rich and round Alsatian style. Floral nose with melon, spice and floral flavours. The warm 2020 vintage shows. Enjoyed this wine.
Dr. Bürklin Wolf Estate Trocken Riesling 2018
Pfalz, Germany$24.95
Crisp, flavourful and food friendly. Mineral with lots of citrus. Apricot and a mushroom earthiness in the background. Dry in style and really quite good.
Three Saints Happy Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Santa Ynez Valley
California, Usa$33.82
Everything harmoniously balanced. Some complexity of flavour. Polished yet I found lacking in tension or structure. Good wine but not good value in my mind.
Malivoire Small Lot Gamay 2019, VQA Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$21.95
Lipsmackingly juicy and fresh. Lots of intensity. Drinks well now as a sipper or versatile food wine. I liked the spine of acidity.
Haselgrove Catkin Shiraz 2018, Mclaren Vale
South Australia, Australia$37.95
Super concentrated and still youthful in Sept/2023. Mouth-coating. Needs rich food to pair with. Powerful wine which I felt took away from the balance somewhat.
