Montresor Capitel Della Crosara Valpolicella Ripasso 2011
Veneto, Italy$18.95
Agree with WA reviewers completely. This was a lovely wine for the price. I got leather, wood smoke and sweet cherry nose. Had depth of flavours dominated by sweet cherry fruit and well-integrated tannin. Good balance.
Mulderbosch Chenin Blanc 2012
Western Cape, South Africa$14.95
Great value. Lemon, honey, green apple and pear on the nose with an added touch of beeswax smoothness on the palate. Crisp citrus finish. The honey notes lasted in the background throughout.
Nomad Sauvignon Blanc 2018, VQA Niagara Lakeshore, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$16.95
Gooseberry, hay and apple on the nose. Apple and lime flavours. Very smooth mouthfeel. Good value.
Rockway Fergie Jenkins Limited Edition Riesling 2017, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$13.75
A soft Riesling with the flavours as described by the pros. Some elegance and decent balance.
Butterfield Station Pinot Noir 2018
California, Usa$20.48
A savoury PN with cherry cola and brown sugar on the nose. In addition, opens up to some nice berry and cherry notes. Nice for what it is trying to be and good value. Quite good with food.
Bodegas Vallemayor Fuenmayor Rioja Vina Encineda Coleccion Vallemayor 2016, Doca
Rioja, Spain$21.61
Nicely into maturity. Stewed beets, plum and red fruit. Soft tannins. Finishes with a hint of black pepper and dried red fruit.
The Foreign Affair Amarose 2019, VQA Niagara Peninsula, Canada
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Slightly off-dry attack with a nice depth of fruit flavours. Ripe apple, berry and citrus. Hard to resist the next sip. Good balance.
Monasterio De Las Viñas Reserva 2006, Do Cariñena
Spain$14.95
Med ruby/purple colour. Plum, blackberry and earthy aromas with similar flavours and a bit of leather added. Some bitterness on finish. Well balanced. Good fruit.
Abad Dom Bueno Mencía 2008, Do Bierzo
Galicia, Spain$16.95
Tasted July/14: Deep purple in colour. Had plum and other dark fruits nose along with a bitter almond. Flavour dominated by black pepper and bitter notes. Would agree that it does not have a lot of life left but has nice power and concentration.
Gunderloch Fritz's Riesling 2013, Qualitätswein
Germany$13.95
Thought this was a very nice German riesling especially at this price point. Stewed green apple, honey, peach and a tough of mineral. Lingering finish
