Malivoire Vivant Rose 2019, Vegan, Certified Sustainable, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Despite the pale salmon colour, nose and flavours lean more toward the red spectrum--strawberry, red currant, red apple. Very fresh and vibrant at present.
Ant Moore Sauvignon Blanc 2019
Marlborough, New Zealand$22.79
Fairly restrained for Marlborough SB with straw/grass, gooseberry and citrus along with a bitter pithy note. Easy drinking. Good balance.
Pearce Predhomme Chenin Blanc Old Vine/Wild Ferment 2019
Stellenbosch, South Africa$22.74
Bold in aromatics and flavour with citrus, pineapple. A hint that it may develop more mellow honey notes and a bit more balance over time. Finishes with a pleasant bitterness as well.
Finca Martha Gran Malbec 2018
Mendoza, Argentina$24.35
Wonderfully concentrated. Big, round and well balanced. Room to age but totally enjoyable now. Jammy plum and meatiness were my main takeaways.
13th Street Cabernet Franc June's Vineyard 2019, VQA Creek Shores
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Nice crisp cranberry fruit, very ripe. Soft tannins, good acidity. Finishers clean and crisp. Lighter in style, very food friendly.
Three Saints Happy Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Santa Ynez Valley
California, Usa$33.82
Everything harmoniously balanced. Some complexity of flavour. Polished yet I found lacking in tension or structure. Good wine but not good value in my mind.
Dr. Bürklin Wolf Estate Trocken Riesling 2018
Pfalz, Germany$24.95
Crisp, flavourful and food friendly. Mineral with lots of citrus. Apricot and a mushroom earthiness in the background. Dry in style and really quite good.
Nicholas Pearce Rue Naujac Cabernet Sauvignon Lot 33 2018, Columbia Valley, Washington
Washington, Usa$31.78
Supple fruit, medium feel, elegant and drinking well now. Youthful look and flavours starting to add some more mature elements.
Sapientia Verdejo Ecologico 2018, Rueda Do
Rueda, Spain$21.95
Smooth and round. Well described by the Wine Align expert team. Quite delicious.
Palavrar Vinhas Velhas Red 2017, Duoro
Douro, Portugal$34.09
I found this wine to be fresher than expected for a Douro red. It had a nice tinge of acidity. At the same time, a good depth of fruit as well. Very food friendly.
Tasted August, 2024.
