Bodegas Puiggros Exedra 2019, D.O. Catalunya
Catalonia, Spain$30.65
Lots of flavour with a hit of salinity. Definitely a wine for food, not sipping. I found the flavours not quite integrated. Would have liked to see a bit better balance. Nice overall.
Jose Pariente Verdejo Fermentado En Barrica 2018, Rueda Do
Rueda, Spain$34.95
Very nice wine. Lovely buttery and toasty notes balanced by ripe citrus and pear. Great with roast chicken.
Vino Lauria Zio Paolo Nero D'avola 2018, I.G.T. Terre Siciliane
Sicily, Italy$28.39
A rustic, chewy yet flavourful wine. Lots of earth and dried fruits. A wine meant for food is my thought.
Elle De Landaluce 2017, Rioja Alavesa
Rioja, Spain$38.95
Excellent. Lovely deep fruit (stewed plum, blackberry), oak. Finishes with minty herbs. Very well-balanced and elegant. Delicious. Tasted September 2024
Trimbach Réserve Riesling 2010
Alsace, France$27.95
Nose a bit shy on my tasting. Lime, green apple and slate throughout. Should mature well.
Le Vieux Pin Cuvée Violette Syrah 2018, Unfined, Lightly Coarse Filtered, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$37.38
Concentrated yet with a nice fruity light feel at the same time. Very good wine drinking well now and should have the ability to develop further.
Bachelder Wismer Foxcroft Gamay Noir Niagara Cru 2018, Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$27.95
A good gamay in a light styled manner. Crisp cran-cherry with a distinct bitter tone. Goes with food or on its own.
Albert Mann Gewurztraminer 2018, Alsace
Alsace, France$43.09
An elegant and supple style of Alsace gewurz. Very well done although of questionable value compared to recent Alsace Grand Cru gewurztraminer sampled recently. I found notes of peach in syrup, pineapple, lychee, pear and a bit of spice.
Domäne Wachau Ried Kreuzberg Federspiel Grüner Veltliner 2022, Wachau D.A.C.
Wachau, Austria$34.09
Lovely ripe and vibrant fruit. Nice crisp finish. Smooth mouthfeel and excellent balance. Tasted September 2024
Domaine Rolet Père Et Fils Arbois Trousseau 2014, Jura
Jura, France$34.04
Great to try a grape and region that is new to me. Nice juicy acidity set in a mature framework of dried fruit, black pepper and leather. No tannins to speak of. I would drink this up in the next year or so.
