Featherstone Phoenix 2020, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$18.95
A very good gewurz at this price, in a dry, rich and round Alsatian style. Floral nose with melon, spice and floral flavours. The warm 2020 vintage shows. Enjoyed this wine.
Tawse Sketches Of Niagara Riesling 2021, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
A soft, failry rich style for riesling. Lots on the nose with honey, apple and grapefruit on the palate. Moderate acidity, not as nervy as would be preferred yet balanced and easy to drink.
Covela Edição Nacional Avesso 2022, D.O.C. Vinho Verde
Vinho Verde, Portugal$26.80
Richer than many Vinho Verdes. Apple, citrus and herbal notes particularly noted. Very nice.
Domaine De Mauperthuis Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Saint Bris A.O.C.
Burgundy, France$34.04
Mostly in the green veggies and herbal vein. Nice body and texture and a good finish. Some fruit on the nose that did not translate in the mouth. Needs to be served with food.
Rocca Delle Macìe Chianti Riserva 2005, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$15.95
David's and John's review describe the wine well: leather, cherry, bitter almond was what I got. Good value Chianti, I just could not rate it quite as high. Certainly enjoyable though.
Tawse Sketches Of Niagara Rosé 2009, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$15.95
Found this to be closer to J Szabo's review. Strawberry, lemon and floral aromas. Lemon/lime, grapefruit and cranberry flavours. Nice. Gd value. Would buy it again. (Tend to enjoy Tawse wines)
Creekside Estate Butler's Grant Riesling 2008, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$11.95
Sparkly apearance. Lime, peach and grapefruit nose wth some honey and pear in the flavour. Very tasty, smooth and a long finish. Excellent balance.
Domaine Les Yeuses Les épices Syrah 2011, Igp Pays D'oc
Languedoc, France$15.95
Prunes, oak, cloves and black pepper notes. Good depth of flavour for the price.
Flat Rock Chardonnay 2015, VQA Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Lime, bready, bandaid on the nose. Flavours of citrus, honey and lime. Rich and flavourful.
Domaine Saint Amant Les Clapas 2017, Côtes Du Rhône
Rhône, France$27.26
Nicely round and elegant. Some stewed plum notes, savoury, and supple. A little aging would add interest but fine to drink now.
