Monasterio De Las Viñas Reserva Garnacha/Tempranillo/Cariñena 2012, Dop Cariñena
Aragón, Spain$14.95
Excellent wine for the price. More depth than expected. Tasted September 2017.
Castello Di Albola Chianti Classico 2013, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
Great Chianti with a little more acidity than usual for this type of wine. Tasted August 2017.
Apollonio Valle Cupa 2001, Igt Salento Rosso
Puglia, Italy$12.95
Wow, cellaring wine really pays off ! Very distinctive medium to full body wine with oaky flavours and very decent complexity. Very smooth, especially for an Old World wine. Tasted May 2012.
Christian Moueix Merlot 2005, Bordeaux
Bordeaux, France$15.95
Fairly impressed by this Merlot. Very smooth and easy to drink. Benefited from decantiing over 30 minutes to an hour. Tasted April 2013.
Lake Chalice Pinot Noir 2008, Marlborough, South Island
New Zealand$19.95
I already knew Marlborough is a great wine region in New Zealand, especially for Pinot Noir, but I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of this Pinot Noir for that price. Perfect if you don't want to break the bank buying a good Pinot Noir from France at double the cost. Medium body wine that full body wine lovers (like me) will like. Tasted in September 2010.
Wyndham Bin 555 Shiraz 2008, Southeastern Australia
Australia$12.95
Decent Shiraz with a good finish. Full-bodied and well balanced. Got better after an hour of aeration. Safe bet with casual wine drinkers but I felt a little bit short-handed with the lack of complexity. Tasted January 2012.
Gemtree Citrine Chardonnay 2009, Mclaren Vale, South Australia
Australia$15.85
Dry and medium body wine. Chardonnay's not my cup of tea, but even I could appreciate the quality and complexity of this wine. Tasted January 2012.
Legends Estates Reserve Cabernet/Merlot 2002, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$17.95
This wine was still great after 12 years, but may be past its prime. I still enjoyed it very much though. This wine really opened up within a few minutes after opening it. Great finish with decent complexity. Very smooth / light tannins. Tasted July 2014.
