Wynns Coonawarra Estate Shiraz 2008, Coonawarra, South Australia
Australia$22.95
Tasted August 2011. Marvelous example of a shiraz. Wish I had bought more.
See Ya Later Ranch Rover 2008, VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$24.95
Tasted April 2012. The viognier does make this syrah a fair bit more aromatic adding some light floral notes to the plumy goodness of the wine. The taste follows suite with a hint of freshness before being enveloped in wonderful dark plum cherry spicy notes that meander in a lengthy finish with hints of licorice and oakiness. Definitely one I'm happy to have stocked up on.
E. Guigal Cotes Du Rhone 2006
Rhône, France$19.95
June 2012. Very nice SGM blend with medium red fruit notes of cherry/currant/raspberry with a dry spiciness underneath.
Southbrook Canadian Framboise (375ml)
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Tasted March 2012. Wonderfully mouthwatering raspberry flavour that was very deep and rich without being overly sweet. Nicely balance with the alcohol nearly unnoticeable, perhaps even a touch dangerously. Had chilled and over creamy vanilla ice cream, both to great delight.
Tenuta Ponte Taurasi 2003, Docg
Campania, Italy$39.00
Lots of nice earthy leathers and strong tannin presence. Subtle spiced fruits. Evolved nicely over the 3 days we consumed it.
Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Shiraz 2009, Barossa Valley, South Australia
Australia$24.95
Tasted May 2012. Very sweet and smooth with a little tannin kick at the end with a hint spices. Dominated by rich dark fruit flavours of ripe plum, currant and tart blueberries which continue through a nice long finish. A very easy Shiraz to quaff at an ungentlemanly pace.
Vollenweider Wolfer Goldgrube Riesling Kabinett 2008, Prädikatswein
Mosel, Germany$21.95
Tasted Feb 2012. Gorgeous peach apricot flavours delivered in a fine balance of sweetness and acidity. A very nice Riesling that sent me back to the store to stock up.
La Maison Du Crémant Brut Crémant De Bourgogne, Ac, Burgundy, France
Burgundy, France$17.95
Tasted New Year's Eve. Wonderful nose and bright crisp green apple taste. Lots of bubbles to bring us into 2012.
