Cortes De Cima Chaminé 2010, Vinho Regional Alentejano
Alentejo, Portugal$15.95
Tasted Jan 2012. Had recently while dining out with a friend (I had skate with vegetables and friend had braised lamb) and found to be a very pleasant wine with fresh small berry flavours and a nice light touch of vanilla licorice. Neither weak nor overbearing, with a nice hint of sweetness.
A very solid all around easy to drink wine that satisfies with a casual dinner.
Zolo Torrontés 2010, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$14.95
Tasted Nov. 2012. Perhaps got to it a touch past its peek, but while still very floral on the nose, found to be very basic citrus and white fruit on the palate, and that was almost overshadowed by the alcohol's heat. Not my favourite white, but the back half of the bottle made for a great white sangria!
Tenuta La Meridiana Vitis Barbera D'asti 2007, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$9.95
Tasted August 2011. Nice light wine with distinctive tart cherry notes. Very tasty and excellent value for a bottle under $10.
Tedeschi Capitel Nicalò Appassimento Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2008, Doc
Veneto, Italy$17.95
Tasted Jan 2011. Had with a nice set of ribs, but nothing really stood out with the wine. A relatively basic wine with a touch too much acidity for me.
Ironstone Old Vine Zinfandel 2009, Lodi
California, Usa$17.95
Tasted July 2012. A very straightforward Zin with nothing that really stood out, but went nicely with the BBQ.
Ravenswood Vintners Blend Zinfandel 2009, California
California, Usa$17.95
Tasted Nov. 2011. A fairly simple straight forward Zin and a far cry from previous vintages I had enjoyed. flavours resemble a raspberry & plum fruitiness infused with a heavily steeped spiced black tea.
Sumac Ridge Gewurztraminer 2008, VQA
British Columbia, Canada$8.95
Tasted Nov. 2011. Nice notes of citrus/grapefruit on the nose and palate. The wine had a mild acidity and a long finish.
Joseph Cattin Pinot Noir 2009, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$14.95
Tasted Dec 2011. A decent old world pinot noir with light tart berry flavours supported by slightly musty earth notes. Very reasonable pinot for the price.
Quails' Gate Pinot Noir 2008, VQA Okanagan Valley
British Columbia, Canada$26.95
Tasted Feb 2012. One of the darker Pinot Noirs I've has with musky almost smoky nose overpowering the red berry notes. Tasted of sea salted sour cherries with a touch of spiciness and gripping astringency. Kept flipping between whether or not I like it.
Santa Alicia Carmenere Reserve 2009, Maipo Valley
Chile$12.95
Tasted September 2011. Nice dark fruit flavours with a touch of spice and tannin. Well worth the price on the bottle.
