2018-2022* (gift from Crystal)
.....maybe open Sept 2021 for birth of second grandchild, as long as Crystal can enjoy as well.
June 2022....celebrating Crystal's birthday and M's Day. 9 1/2 years ago Crystal had gifted me this wonderful wine for Xmas 2012. A&C had only been dating a while so I was taken aback by her generosity so I always wanted to share it with her. The wait was worth it, superb with bbq steak. 90 minute aeration opened it up beautifully. Strong, bold, full bodied in every regard with a lovely finish. Dark berries galore. Crystal & I shared the whole bottle Fabulous! (93)

now.....2021
Nov/21....I had purchased this as a gift for Tina. Sad she wasn't here to share with. I was expecting wonderful things from this bottle so saved it for a special occasion....dinner with the kids, Keith & June as guests, first time we had indoor dinner guests during pandemic. In my mind, this bottle did not disappoint. I really enjoyed its vibrant and juicy character. Quality wine. Chapoutier always delivers for me. Was worried it might not go well with cabbage rolls but it did indeed. Toasted to Chris, in her honour and memory.

February, 2020.....with Osso Bucco. Felt it was past its best, fresher would have been better....however, after half hour aeration wine smelt and tasted better and went quite well with the meal. Would buy again but drink sooner.

*2024-25
per winemaker.... The Catena Alta wines can usually be drunk starting at three years after harvest and into the following one to two decades....but a few critics suggested a limit of 2024?

June 24.....had with sockeye salmon, absolutely delicious! Smooth, medium bodied, lots of berry flavour. A PN I could drink for life and perhaps never tire of. Reminiscent of Oregon PN (maybe). Great value all considered. Next one in 12 months, next sockeye salmon season.

Feb 3 2019 (Superbowl 53)....don't remember drinking first one but no complaints with this one....in fact it was very good even despite its age (was worried had left it too long).....had with oven bbq chicken, went well enough, the wine was super tasty, lots of fruit still, spicy, smooth and silky....lovely!
