The Wine Sisters are Erin and Courtney Henderson - sister sommeliers who love to eat, drink, and be pretty merry.
You could say our love of wine runs in the family. When we were kids, our dad, who also worked in the wine business, would travel the world's wine regions and come home with enchanting tales of the champagne caves in France or the impossibly steep vineyard slopes in Germany.
We like to joke that when all the other kids were learning to ride their bikes, we were learning about fermentation.
Well, fast forward 20 years or so, and we've both earned our sommelier certification through CAPS. We went on to work as sommeliers and restaurant managers in Toronto, and in 2010 we decideded to open our own sommelier services and wine events agency.
And so just like our Dad did with us, we're now telling others about wine regions we've visited and new wines we've tasted. And we can't wait to talk with you about it, too.

Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Beaune Grèves Premier Cru Vigne De L'enfant Jésus 2009
Burgundy, France$117.99
Wonderfully perfumed with wild flowers, ripe red and black cherry, dark soil and spice notes, followed by a powerful and focused mid-weight palate with flavours of toasted spice, forest, red and dark berry fruit and rich earth. Still youthful and taut, so tuck away for a special occasion sometime after 2019.
Strewn Vidal Icewine 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula (200ml)
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Elegant and restrained with slightly earthy aromas of paraffin and honey comb, apple pie, butterscotch, marmalade and pineapple. Great balance on the palate, with the same earthy notes countering the rich, ripe tropical fruit and honeyed notes. Likewise, the elevated acidity keep things nice and focused. Very enjoyable with pâtés – and a great price, to boot.
Groth Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Oakville, Napa Valley
California, Usa$74.95
Richly concentrated, with blackberry, dark cherry, wet earth, spice and mild saline aromas. The palate is dense with grippy tannin and voluptuous dark fruit, fresh herb and spice flavours.
Ken Forrester Reserve Chenin Blanc 2011
Stellenbosch, South Africa$17.95
Flinty, mineral and sweet citrus aromas, with bright flavours of clementine orange, nectarine/peach and a steely/mineral tone. Fresh and focused with lively acidity and nice length, try this with barbecued chicken, grilled trout or green salads with fresh herbs.
Antinori Badia A Passignano Chianti Classico Riserva 2007
Tuscany, Italy$44.95
Powerful and masculine with intense aromas of soy sauce, dried shitake mushroom, savoury herbs and black cherry. The palate is full and concentrated with firm tannin and balancing, taut acidity with exceptional length. Try with port and soy sauce marinaded flank steak & grilled mushrooms.
Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils Meursault Les Clous 2010
Burgundy, France$43.95
A lovely drinking Meursault with aromas of creme brulee, crushed rock, under ripe tropical fruit and vanilla. Medium bodied, creamy and elegant on the palate with passion fruit, vanilla, shortbread, lemon custard. Very good, well structured wine, but not convinced this is worth $45.
Seguin Manuel Vieilles Vignes Chassagne Montrachet 2010, Ac
Burgundy, France$57.95
A polished and elegant wine of fantastic structure and complexity. Aromas of lemon, toast, stone, and baking spice. The palate is full bodied and energetic with fresh acidity, and notes of clove/cinnamon, egg nog cream, marzipan, and lemon lime. An exciting wine that offers focus and poise.
Le Clos Jordanne Claystone Terrace Chardonnay 2011, VQA Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$40.00
A sophisticated and sleek Chardonnay that offers aromas of flint, green apple, moderate smoke and subtle vanilla notes. The palate is mid weight with crisp acidity and an almost beeswax texture. Flavours of crushed rock, smoke, orchard fruit and slight baking spice. Lovely option for halibut in a caper-lemon sauce or creamy veal stew.
Inniskillin Viognier Reserve 2012, Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$18.95
Lovely floral, peach and spicy ginger focused aromatics that follow through on the palate. Creamy texture with considerable length, this is a polished wine that would be lovely with your holiday turkey or seafood curry.
Chateau Montelena Chardonnay 2010, Napa Valley
California, Usa$72.95
This shows balance and focus with complex mineral and grapefruit aromas mixing with creamy butterscotch and baked apple. Mid-weight and creamy on the palate with peach/pear/apricot flavours and tidy mineral finish. Careful not to over chill, and serve with crab and avocado salad or California sushi rolls.
