Isabelle Et Denis Pommier Chablis 2015
Burgundy, France$29.40
Extremely ripe chablis, concentrated apple/pear/pineapple aromas, viscous and good, but not what i would expect out of a chablis, the mineralty that I so desperately longed for was masked by the enormity of fruit. Good, but a style of chardonnay that one can find for less elsewhere in the world for less
Duboeuf Beaujolais Brouilly 2013, Burgundy
Beaujolais, France$18.95
Not bad. Has more weight than Many at this price, aim Some lacks character. There are far better examples of brouilly for 10-20% premium qui sont également quite Widely availbale (laurent martray etc.). Would not recommend this.
Ijalba Reserva 2011
Rioja, Spain$21.35
One of the Weaker Rioja Reserva's available at the SAQ. Lacks the old world character That So Many others (even if They Are modern and Extracted) offer. Still not a decent wine, there are just to many examples --other at this price to recommend this.
Domaine Clavel Pic Saint Loup Bonne Pioche 2013, Languedoc
Languedoc, France$19.95
Syrah based blend from the languedoc. Spice and some animal hide complement the dark fruit and Mediterranean herb flavors. The oak is there but subtle. Upon opening there are strong green/esparagus aromas, but these pass with time. Organic and unfiltered.
G.D. Vajra Barbera D'alba 2014, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$32.95
Georgeous barberral, integrated floral and red fruit flavors. Palate coating and maintains great acidity.
Jean Michel Gerin La Champine 2014
Rhône, France$24.75
Solid, fresh fruit, spicy, peppery and meaty character. Good stuf, a lil bit of Syrah Rhonian funk.
Château Thivin Côte De Brouilly Cuvée Les Sept Vignes 2014, Côte De Brouilly
Beaujolais, France$24.10
Thivin consistently delivers good quality balanced gamay. Has substance without losing that that youthful juiciness that i look for in gamay
Boutari Naoussa Xinomavro 2014, Pdo Naoussa, Macedonia
Naoussa, Greece$13.95
Savory Mediterranean style wine, herb and cherry, earthy, beautiful garnet color. It has all the elements of a great wine, made in a young easy drinking style. No mistaking this for anything else, classic, rustic and elegant. This is right up my alley. Gets an extra point for being too damn real!
Montresor Amarone Della Valpolicella 2013, Docg
Veneto, Italy$36.65
Well priced and less than Extracted Many Amarone's. Red and dark fruit With Some spice, but nothing exciting. I would opt for a good Ripasso wine from puglia gold around the Saami price point gold Spend A Few more dollars for a better Amarone.
Joseph Mellot Sancerre La Chatellenie 2015, Sancerre
Loire, France$31.95
Tasted blind and was shocked when unveiled. Lacking focus, exuberance, citrus fruit and minerality. This was flabby and far from nervy, the first sancerre that ive had of this sort.
