A great wine. Fruit off the top, but with a lot of herbal and earth character. Notes of dried cherry, black cherry, plum, leather, tobacco, smoke, black pepper, bay leaf, tomato. Tannins are medium, dusty, and grippy. Full bodied with high acidity. Excellent length.

A beautifully integrated wine. Very fragrant. Notes of cassis, blackberry, plum, bramble, pepper, vanilla, tobacco, leather, smoke, earthy, cinnamon, prune, and lavender. Medium plus body with medium tannins and matching acidity. Excellent length.

A nicely hued purple in the glass. Notes of blackberry, blueberry, violet, cedar, leather, menthol, black pepper, and bramble. A vanilla note also carries from the nose to the palate. Medium acidity and body with medium plus, chewy tannins. Excellent length.

Bachelder Wismer Foxcroft Gamay Noir Niagara Cru 2018, Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula

I have to admit this wine has more complexity than expected. Notes of sour cherry, stewed strawberry, blackberry, leather, forest floor, and white pepper. There is also a phenolic rawness present that gives the wine an edge. Medium minus body with matching, very fine tannins. Acidity is medium plus and length is moderate.

The colour is translucent garnet with a wide brick rim. Some complexity on the nose with notes of cherry, cranberry, raspberry, red licorice, forest floor, leather, thyme, mint, pepper, smoke, and hints of clove. Dry on the palate with medium body. Tannins are medium and very fine. Acidity is medium with very good length.
