A Sauvignon blanc with some interesting depth. Notes of cut grass, lemon pith, passion fruit, tropical fruit, and more subtle orchard fruit. The palate matches the nose with an addition of phenolic rawness. medium bodied, with high acidity.

Remelluri Rioja Reserva 2011

Some complexity here. Notes of oak, vanilla, tobacco, leather, black licorice, plum, blackberry, dark chocolate, and cherry. Full bodied and balanced, although with diminished acidity from a couple years ago when I tried this wine last. Very fine medium tannins. It finishes with a black pepper element on end that was not present on the nose. Length is good.
