Yalumba Organic Viognier 2011, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$16.95
I'm liking the WS review on this one: honeysuckle, pear, nice finish.
Fontanafredda Barolo 2007, Piedmont
Piedmont, Italy$29.95
Pale garnet colour, quite pronounced aromas of red fruit, floral and a nice earthiness. It's medium bodied with a long finish.
Mont Marçal Brut Reserva Cava, Do
Spain$18.95
This cava scored high in a blind tasting with friends. At this price, you really could drink a great sparkling every day. I'm going to stock up for the holidays.
Bodega Del Abad Dom Bueno Crianza 2001, Do Bierzo
Galicia, Spain$14.95
I decanted this one off the sediment and let it stand for 30 minutes (thanks Dan & Blair above). Very nice wine, I'm glad I bought more.
Quinta Da Ponte Pedrinha 2008, Doc Dão
Dão, Portugal$13.75
At $14.95, this may be the value pick of the release. Full of ripe fruit but not jammy. It's very smooth and easy to drink.
Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough
New Zealand$17.45
Crisp, fresh with lots of fruit on the nose and palate. Nice balance and mouth feel.
Vicchiomaggio Agostino Petri Chianti Classico Riserva 2008, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$0.00
This wine was a value standout for me at the Chianti Classico tasting last week. I'm putting it on my shopping list for the 26th release.
Creekside X Blanc De Blanc 2000, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$45.00
Lovely sparkling made in the traditional method and only disgorged in 2011. What a nice treat. Thanks Rob!
Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, Mendocino County
California, Usa$19.95
Rich black cherry and vanilla, but not sweet. Nice acidity and tannin balance and a hit of spice on the finish. I'm really enjoying this one.
Pierre Sparr Réserve Gewurztraminer 2007, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$18.95
Medium bodied with flavours of grapefruit, honey and lychee. Nicely balanced and smooth finish.
