Bachelder Niagara Chardonnay 2010, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Buttery in a good way..full malo done apparently. A whiff of oak rather than a baseball bat.
Creamy, flavorful, balanced goodness. This is a Chard that the ABC crowd should visit.
Coyote's Run Black Paw Vineyard Pinot Noir 2009, VQA Four Mile Creek, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$32.95
Typical sour cherry PN nose, nice acidity, easy drinking, great value.
Tannins are 'there' but not dominant...JS suggests age-worthy...I'm liking it now :)
13th Street Premier Cuvée 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula, Traditional Method
Ontario, Canada$34.95
Tried a glass of the (recently released) 2008 vintage with lunch on the winery patio.
I bought a six-pack (and considered buying a dozen).
I won't be surprised if this batch sells out quickly!
Bodegas Lan Reserva 2007, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$21.95
A Rioja to make believers out of non-Rioja drinkers.
Pro descriptions sound right; I enjoyed this, esp for the price!
Lillet Blanc
Bordeaux, France$23.90
First tried at age16 in Paris on a high school trip. Has been that 'special' drink ever since.
I hate when I run out of this! Superb aperitif (and dessert sipper as Tyler mentions).
Estate Hatzimichalis Chardonnay 2010
Greece$14.95
I admit to retsina-phobia, but gave this a try...(thanks to Sara).
Simple and slightly sweet floral impact, with a typical but not overdone oaky finish.
Very nice indeed, esp for the price!
Laurent Gauthier Grand Cras Vieilles Vignes Morgon 2010, Ac
Beaujolais, France$19.95
I bought this because of the JS and DL recommendations.
Very nice/great value.
Château Lamothe Cissac 2005, Ac Haut Médoc
Bordeaux, France$23.95
Hooray! A sub-25 Bordeaux that tastes good!
Agree with the consensus. Also a better value than the 2001 Bord from the same release which costs 3 bucks more
Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc 2011, Marlborough
Marlborough, New Zealand$19.95
Looked forward to trying this after reading the near-universal praise.
Glad I bought more than one.
Fresh fresh fresh from start to lingering finish.
Terrific tangy SB.
Southbrook Triomphe Organic Cabernet Franc Rosé 2011, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Let me join the chorus of praise; love it!
The staff person at the winery mentioned that there are touches of other grapes (eg Syrah) in addition to the main Cab Franc foundation.
Agree with JS that a dry version would be interesting.
