Wine lover since 2001! My interest in wine began while touring the factory where they printed the LCBO VINTAGES magazine.
Over time, my passion for wine grew. Now, I am highly regarded by friends and colleagues as a resource for when they need a wine for that special occasion, be it an anniversary, birthday, wedding, gatherings at home, or when they want to impress their special friend or the In-Laws.
Combining my interest in the Internet/web/computers, you can find me at https://vintagewinepicks.blogspot.com where you will find more wine reviews, events and contests.

Thorn Clarke Terra Barossa Shiraz 2009, Barossa Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$16.95
Big aromas of lush blackberry, blueberry, earth, mint and pepper. Dark fruit flavours, dark chocolate, turning a bit spicy at mid-palate. Full-bodied, chewy. Dry. Ageable, but ready to drink now. Well-made Shiraz, but is bit too bitter for my taste. Tasted Oct/2011 and better on 2nd day.
Luigi Bosca Chardonnay 2010, Luján De Cuyo, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$14.70
Melon/peach aromas from cork. Mango, pineapple, oak and barnyard aromas from the glass. Tropical fruits with hints of juicy sweetness dance with apple and butter notes, giving way to oaky finish in this dry, full-bodied white wine. Tasty! Tasted June/2012.
Flagstone Writer's Block Pinotage 2009, Wo Western Cape
Western Cape, South Africa$19.95
Earthy, currant, cassis and oak aromas from the glass with more currant/cassis, and black fruit notes on the medium-full bodied palate. Quite bitter tasting. A touch of spiciness at mid-length. Tannins would allow ageing another 2 years or so, but drinking well right now. Quite good. Tasted Dec/2011.
Tilia Malbec 2011, Mendoza
Argentina$12.95
Nose a bit closed, but shows dark fruits, violets and iron/metallic aromas. Easy drinking with dark fruits and hints of milk chocolate on the palate. Short- to medium-length finish. Tasted Nov/2012.
Pillitteri Estates Winery Pinot Grigio 2011, Niagara On The Lake
Ontario, Canada$11.70
Mostly citrus and lime aromas, with hints of floral and peach. Bone dry with high acidity. Lime and floral notes on the palate. Tasted Sept/2012.
Jackson Triggs Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Ontario, Canada$13.75
Screw top. Clean, refreshing lime gooseberry, and herbal aromas give way slight earthiness. Light-bodied with replays of lime, gooseberry, and grass on palate. Has a very fine acidic backbone, medium finish that is a touch hot. Tasted Oct/2012.
Liberty School Syrah 2010, Central Coast
California, Usa$18.95
Aromas of dark fruits, mushroom smoked meat, and violet. More dark fruits and violet on the palate, plus blackberry notes. Full-bodied with grippy tannins that are a bit tight. Could use 1-2 years to unwind. Smooth, medium-long finish that's well-balanced. Tasted Feb/2013.
Casa Lapostolle Gran Seleccion Sauvignon Blanc 2012, Rapel Valley
Chile$12.00
From the LCBO General List and always available, the 2012 version has herbaceous, citrus, lemon rind, butter aromas of medium intensity. Palate is medium-bodied and extra dry with unexpected pear and butter notes. Nice acidity with a lingering finish that shows hints of spice. Also contains 8% Semillón and 2% Sauvignon Gris. Easy drinking and food friendly. Tasted June/2013.

Kacaba Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, VQA Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$44.95
Medium+ intensity nose and showing sweet ripe red & black fruits, vanillan, cassis, and black currant aromas. It's full-bodied and ripe with silky tannins, and flavours of cassis, white pepper, dark currant, and oak. Has fresh, balanced acids and long finish. Drinking well now and could age up to 5 years. Tasted Jan/2015. Score: 89+ pts
Gustav Adolf Schmitt Niersteiner Spätlese Late Harvest 2012, Rheinhessen
Germany$10.95
Screw cap. This white wine has fresh lime, mineral and floral aromas of low-to-medium intensity. Lots of honey flavours on the palate with undertones of ginger and candied peach. Slightly chalky mouthfeel and quite sweet with good acids. Finish lingers. Great value at $10.95. Tasted Dec/2013.
