Chanson Père & Fils Le Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2009, Bourgogne
Burgundy, France$21.95
A delicate and light-to-medium bodied wine. Red brick colour. Floral, fruity and herbal.
Notes of sour cherries, cranberry, bay leaf, white pepper, slightly earthy with mild notes of crushed rocks. Integrated tannins. Medium complexity and moderately tannic finish.
Tasted May, 2012.
Whitecliff Sauvignon Blanc 2010, Marlborough
Marlborough, New Zealand$14.95
Very light colour. Fresh, grass, light tropical fruit. Slight minerality, but not acidic. Clean finish.
Christian Moueix Merlot 2009, Ac
Bordeaux, France$15.95
Perhaps this wine demonstrates that the success of the 2009 vintage is limited in scope.
The fruit is flat and lifeless, the palate is thin and with little to speak of in terms of depth or body.
I would not recommend.
Tasted November 2012.
Conundrum 2010, California
California, Usa$24.95
While the various varietals are well integrated, it is overwhelmingly sweet. A diversity of fruit which is expected with such a blend. Peach, pear and apple with spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. Layered but not a great balance. Oak and butterscotch and a medium finish.
Tasted April, 2012.
L.A. Cetto Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Guadalupe Valley, Baja California
Mexico, World$11.95
Light to medium body. Opens with tart fruit: mostly raspberry, rhubarb and unripened cherries. A little bit of spice and vanilla on the back end. Quick finish with mild tannins.
Don Cristobal 1492 Bonarda 2010, Ugarteche, Luján De Cuyo, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$12.95
A nice, unoffensive wine. Simple flavours of chocolate, ripened berries and a little spice. Smooth, elegant finish.
Vega Murillo Verdejo 2010, Do Rueda
Rueda, Spain$15.95
An easy drinking wine with decent depth and weight. Notes of nuts and flowers are integrated. Would not recommend at this price.
Finca El Origin Reserva Torrontés 2010, Cafayate Valley, Salta
Salta, Argentina$15.95
A rather sweet offering with notes of white flowers, almonds and tropical fruit with peach dominating. Vivacious, crisp, and a clean finish.
Tasted May, 2012.
Mcmanis Family Vineyards Syrah 2010, California
California, Usa$18.95
While a little overpriced as it lack complexity, it is an easy sipper and would easily compliment many summer BBQ dishes. While subdued for a Syrah, it offers medium dark berry flavours that are nicely integrated with the oak and mild spice notes.
Tasted May 2012.
