Ovidio García Esencia Crianza 2009, Do Cigales
Spain$14.25
Still holding strong, killer wine for $15. Black fruit with great length, sturdy enough for food, pleasant enough on its own. Smooth and grippy, has legs.
A good wine deal but one off from the LCBO.
Zuccardi Series A Bonarda 2015, Santa Rosa
Mendoza, Argentina$16.95
Very jammy, very soft, unstructured, with a sweet finish. The flavours are quite honestly reminiscent of Concord.
Best's Bin No. 1 Shiraz 2014, Great Western, Victoria
Victoria, Australia$21.95
Took Michael's advice, it's at prime now. Less the bruiser after 6 years, its lost the nervous edge and is smooth, well mannered and highly satisfying
Cafaggio Cortaccio 2008, Igt Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
Not a crowd pleaser but wonderfully old school. Wish wine like this was still common. Heavy on the cedar but balanced, pleasantly intense with a complexity and length you don't get from fruit forward wines. Makes you stop and think. Drink now, probably at peak.
Ruppertsberger Linsenbusch Gewürztraminer Spätlese 2016, Prädikatswein
Pfalz, Germany$18.95

The Foreign Affair Conspiracy 2016, VQA Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$21.95
Over the hill, bitter and lacking charm at this late date.
