Montes Purple Angel 2011, Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$59.95
(1)*
2021-22
have on its own, with friends, decant hours ahead....winter wine?
....this wasn't one of the better years, maybe share with friends either the 2015 or 2017
May 6 2023...enjoyed during a belated celebration of Crystal's birthday (and Jenn's), had with steak. After 3 hours decant, still believe it needed more time. After 5 hours, perfect! Despite not being a banner vintage, still enjoyed and looking forward to trying 2015 and 2017.
Mount Riley Pinot Noir 2012, South Island

August 2020....don't remember when or enjoyment factor.....suspect it was decent.

2019 (now!)
January 2020....nice wine, full, rich, a good sipper and probably pretty versatile food wine. Had with meatballs and pasta in red sauce...not a perfect match but good enough.
March 2022....kinda late drinking this but still good. Had with WeCook Sicilian chicken, went well. This wine was delicious for the next 2 days after as well. Smooth and flavourful. Must say, one of the more enjoyable Canadian wines I've ever had. Highly recommend.
Leone De Castris Riserva Salice Salentino 2010, Doc
Puglia, Italy$19.95
just ok
believe I bought 2, second one may have been more enjoyable but recall is fuzzy. Probably would not repurchase.
Tamaya Gran Reserva Syrah 2011
Limari Valley, Chile$17.75
now!
June 2019.... had with Asian marinated bbq pork chops...great match...lovely wine....full bodied, plenty of flavour, smooth (mature)....would be happy to serve to guests for dinner....terrific value.
Château Canteloup 2010, Ac Médoc
Bordeaux, France$16.95
2016/17....2018 at latest
December 2020.....wow, what a wonderful surprise, wasn't too late for drinking, in fact it was terrific! This from someone who is not a Bordeaux fan. It was rich, layered, mellow but with a nice edge to it. Great find and value. Gives me some hope that someday that recent sub $20 93 point Bordeaux (Château Mayne Vieil 2016) will mature into something like this, as drinking early did nothing for me.
Château De Lastours Grande Réserve Corbières 2008, Ap
Languedoc, France$22.95
2017 + 2018
2017?....1st one gifted but can't remember who
June 2019....quality wine, had with Shepards Pie though it could have used something with a richer taste....needs to breathe, one hour good. For me, possessed that typical French taste that I haven't always been a fan of but was compensated by its smoothness and richness.
Viña Tarapacá Gran Reserva Carmenère 2012, Maipo Valley
Maipo Valley, Chile$17.95
2020
June 2021....had with chilli. This wine was flavourful but oak and alcohol ruined it for me. That green taste too. Just like the Australian shiraz's of old, don't enjoy the bluntness and harshness of this style of wine. Carmenere can still be very good but not at this level. (88)
