Cotes de Francs is small merlot-based sub-region nearby and up river from St. Emilion. So given the geography, price...
A basic Bordeaux find but with some perks like fruit spice and wild herbal notes, great black fruit and good...
Very dry and shows some ripe fruit, which is good considering how tough 2011 was. Might have pushed thing too far...

My kind of weekday wine. Drinkers of "smooth" fruit forward wines beware, this is an old world style wine. A hotish nose with herbal, wildflower and dried fruit notes. Very dry with a great balance of dark berries, sour cranberry and savory herbal flavours. Slightly bitter & mouthwatering, which makes it cut nicely through hearty dishes. A perfect anytime "let's have some wine" bottle. I stocked up. This is the best under $15 Bordeaux I've ever had.

This was impressive at $15. Great with beef bourguignon. Bought 3 more. 89/90
This is a pleasant affordable Bordeaux. Oak slightly dominates the red and dark fruit. Notes of cedar, pencil shavings, herb, vanilla, dark chocolate, and peppery spice. Medium acidity and good tannic structure in this medium/full bodied wine. Not any great length, but nicely packaged considering the price point. Some alcohol burn on the late palate. Sept. 2015.
A lighter-bodied right bank Bordeaux, in keeping with the vintage and appellation. Red fruit (cranberry comes to mind), along with some herbal/vegetal notes (from the cab franc perhaps). Simple, fresh acidity, well-enough made. Decent value. No point ageing. Tasted March 2016.
