Yacochuya 2005, Cafayate, Calchaquies Valley, Salta
Argentina$49.95
This wine was absolutely huge. One of the nicest, but most powerful wines I have had. I am not adequately able to describe or rate it really. Needs something big to go with it, like a grilled T-bone. Outstanding.
Trapiche Terroir Series Finca Ambrosia Single Vineyard Malbec 2012, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$39.95
Pintas Character 2015, Doc Douro
Douro, Portugal$49.95
The nose showed promise. Gave it a one hour decant. Paired with a grilled strip loin. Taste was good, but not what I was hoping for. Not much going on for the price range. Very little in the way of finish. Overall a good wine at $20 but a disappointment at $50.
Montes Purple Angel 2015, Do Colchagua Valley
Colchagua Valley, Chile$62.95
Fantastic. Explosion of the senses. Perennial winner.
Michele Castellani Colle Cristi Collezione Ca' Del Pipa Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2006
Veneto, Italy$44.95
Outstanding. Big leather, black plum, spice flavours. Had with bacon-wrapped fillet mignon. Loved it. Ready now but still has legs for years.
Kenwood Jack London Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Sonoma Mountain, Sonoma County
California, Usa$39.95
Ramsay Petite Sirah 2015, North Coast
California, Usa$24.25
FIRST BOTTLE: I did not register anything in the area of a 93 pt. wine. My bottle was oxidized and hopefully not representative of the product. Or it is just bad. In any event this should be consumed sooner than later. UPDATE May 2019. Second bottle was far better. 90/91, Smooth, well integrated, nice mouth feel, etc. Well worth the second attempt. Ready now.
