Alvaro Palacios Les Terrasses 2013, Doca Priorat
Priorat, Spain$39.75
Turns out that the third Friday of September is International Day of Grenache, so, to celebrate I chose to open this bottle given that this wonderful and versatile grape is prevalent in Priorat. Although this was a blend (with Carignan most likely) it proved to be a great choice.
Lavau Vacqueyras 2012, Ac
Rhône, France$25.95
A GSM that delivers nice depth and balance for under $25
Puente Del Ea Reserva Rioja 2015, D.O.Ca
Spain$34.95
Exquisite. Beautiful dark colour, inviting nose of red fruit, hints of oak, and leathery subtleties, a full round body that reaches every corner of the palate asserting its presence, unashamedly robust and structured in delightful equilibrium, and lingers and lingers exemplifying what great length can be.
It's ready to drink now (January 2023)
Stratus Red 2008, VQA Niagara On The Lake, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$44.20
These guys (Stratus) persuaded me that you could achieve excellence in Ontario with their 2007. The remarkable thing here is that under challenging conditions they pulled it off in 2008 again!
To be enjoyed with local pride!
Domaine Louis Moreau Chablis 2019, A.C.
Burgundy, France$37.43
This IS Chablis. Unmistakably delicious, with the lemony nose, and the lingering minerality, irrefutable evidence that not all Chardonnays are created equal
