Marqués De Murrieta Finca Ygay Reserva 2013, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$34.95
Everything a Rioja Reserva should be. Gracias Marqués!
Tenuta Marsiliana Birillo Rosso 2014, Costa Toscana Igt
Tuscany, Italy$31.78
I'd say Cab Sauvignon is the dominant grape in this blend, but am not sure. What I can safely say though, is that this is a succulent wine. Dark fruit prevails over hints of red, some oak presence, a warmth from the Tuscan sun (?) and a lovely finish.
Domaine De La Côte De L'ange Châteauneuf Du Pape 2010, Ac
Rhône, France$37.95
I could say some overused cliche about the rewards that come to those that wait... But, suffice it to say that if you have kept one of these in your cellar, it is ready! Recommend decanting as there was a bit of sediment. Very succulent CdP.
Enjoyed August 2018.
Domaine Baud Blanc De Blanc Brut, Crémant Du Jura
Jura, France$36.30
Delicious, creamy, bubbly Chardonnay!
Michel Picard Volnay 2010, Ac
Burgundy, France$34.25
Two trusted reviewers (Lawrason and Szabo) separated by 5 points on this one...
Well, I found this Pinot Noir very elegant, with seductive fruit, and a medium body that belies the varietal. I enjoyed everything about it. This time, I agree with the upper end of the assessment.
Barón De Ley Gran Reserva 2010, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$29.95
Consistently one of my favourite Rioja Gran Reserva, and excellent value too.
Tawse Meritage 2012, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$59.95
Sorry, yes, it is good, but overrated and seriously overpriced. For $60 you can get yourself a real Bordeaux of true quality.
