Catena Appellation Vista Flores Malbec 2015
Mendoza, Argentina$31.83
Very nice, with plenty of blackberry to greet you, some licorice, and what I would call an earthy undertone (my wife said "mushroomy")... this is a full bodied and very satisfying Malbec.
Confidences De Prieuré Lichine 2010, Ac Margaux, 2nd Wine Of Château Prieuré Lichine
Bordeaux, France$48.95
Finesse. There is nothing overwhelming or salient about this one. Everything is well integrated, and all the subtleties are there to be discovered with careful attention. Your nose and palate will be rewarded.
Domaine Baud Blanc De Blanc Brut, Crémant Du Jura
Jura, France$36.30
Delicious, creamy, bubbly Chardonnay!
Concha Y Toro Terrunyo Peumo Vineyard Block 27 Carmenère 2011, Entre Cordilleras, Peumo, Cachapoal Valley
Cachapoal Valley, Chile$29.95
Muga Reserva 2008, Doc Rioja
Spain$23.95
I love a good Rioja, deep beautiful colour, inviting nose, full body, fruity and oaky. I love all the things that others list when saying why they are not partial to them. But, when the Tempranillo-Granacha blend is right, how could you not love its richness? This Muga Reserva, 2008, is very close to perfection. Match it right (food and company wise) and it is a winner!
Pierre Amadieu Romane Machotte Gigondas 2012, Rhône Valley
Rhône, France$28.95
Very nice Gigondas. a GS blend (no Mourvedre), medium to full body. The nose is deceptive, as it reveals little of what is to come (if you open it a good half hour prior to pouring, that could help). Nice long finish.
Tawse Meritage 2012, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$59.95
Sorry, yes, it is good, but overrated and seriously overpriced. For $60 you can get yourself a real Bordeaux of true quality.
Clos Du Soleil Signature Red 2013, British Columbia
