Azelia Barolo 2009, Docg
Piedmont, Italy$43.95
Nebbiolo grapes can be the starting point of good and bad results. However, every now and then one comes across a beautiful Barolo such as this. It's great now, but should be even better in another couple of years. Open and let it rest for a bit, as it will open up surprising you, and you'll find a cherry taste within many layers of interesting hints and a dry pleasant finish.
Pérez Cruz Reserva Limited Edition Carmenère 2012
Maipo Valley, Chile$19.95
Gorgeous, dark fruit goodness, full dense depth, loved it. This is a perfect pairing for a BBQ, and very drinkable on its own too!
Domaine La Fourmone Le Fauquet Gigondas 2011, Ap
Rhône, France$34.95
Paired this GSM with a roasted leg of lamb. It delivered correctness, but no wow factor.

Santa Carolina Specialties Dry Farming Carignan 2010, Cauquenes Valley
Chile$18.95
Carignan from the Priorat? No, from Chile. and it is fantastic. Sweet, but not too much, discreetly fruity and somehow rustic, this is a treat.
