Lenz Moser Prestige Trockenbeerenauslese 2008, Prädikatswein, Burgenland (375ml)
Austria$20.95
Tasted Nov '14
Still fresh, complex, smooth and quite rich. Excellent value in a style reminiscent of Late Harvest but with much greater depth. Walks the tight rope between very interesting and accessible, nice stuff.
Domaine Grand Veneur Les Origines Châteauneuf Du Pape 2001
Rhône, France$29.95
Just finished our last bottle and it was drinking beautifully. Complex, long, incredibly balanced, food friendly, delicious and it doesn't ask you to put up with any harsh/stinky/foul barnyard components like so many Rhones with this complexity do.
Classy stuff, so sad the case is gone.
Cave Spring Csv Riesling 2015, Cave Spring Vineyard, VQA Beamsville Bench, Niagara Escarpment
Ontario, Canada$29.95
Fantastic, with allot of life left. Great aged complexity, unusually high quality. Where many Cave Spring Rieslings often lean on lemon and acid and can be austere, none of that to be found here. Rich without come across as a sweetie
Le Clos Jordanne Le Grand Clos Chardonnay 2008, VQA Niagara Peninsula, Twenty Mile Bench
Ontario, Canada$65.00
2016? Well, maybe not. Amber and almost ice wine in colour at this point, its well past it's best before date. Easy to tell this was a special child but at this late date, instead of interesting funky and complex flavours often shown by aged whites, it's very reserved, closed, and maybe a bit grassy. Interesting experiment.
Wynns Coonawarra Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2008, Coonawarra, South Australia, 53rd Vintage
South Australia, Australia$27.95
Helfrich Gewurztraminer 2010, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$18.95
Still Fantastic and holding after all this time, but softer and not as perfumed
A great wine
Ontanon Gran Reserva 2001
Rioja, Spain$39.95
Still holding but time to drink up. Starting to brick around the rim so not an old fogey, and it still displays a Peter Pan brightness but it's past the point where any additional complexity from age would compensate for fading charms
Dr. Hermann Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese 2005, Prädikatswein
Mosel, Germany$21.95
Still holding nicely, a great balance of complexity, viscosity and acidity so common of Dr. Hermann's wines. Yummy
Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett 2012, Prädikatswein
Mosel, Germany$27.95
