Whitehaven Sauvignon Blanc 2016
Marlborough, New Zealand$19.80
Excellent Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, High in acidity with a long and lasting finish. On the nose notes of lemon, lime pith, as well as grape fruit and lemon grass are apparent. The palate follows the intense aroma with notes of tropical fruit, lemon and lime. This wine is seriously impressive, amazing QPR. Highly recommended do not miss out!
Château Léoube Rosé De Léoube 2016, Côtes De Provence
Provence, France$30.95
Absolutely wonderful Rosé cote de provence. Great aromas, wonderful dry and long finishing taste on the palate. Pairs incredibly well with a salade niçoise, one of the best rosé's for the price highly recommended.
Taylor Fladgate Late Bottled Vintage 2012, Douro Superior
Douro, Portugal$18.95
Great LBV red port, notes of red dried and jammed fruit. Cinnamon and spices great length with a lingering finish. For 22$ this is a great buy for all wine lovers.
Bordon Rioja Gran Reserva 2007
Rioja, Spain$19.70
An excellent Gran Reserva from one of the best Rioja vintages of the 21st century. This Affordable mature Rioja punches far above its weight and is by far one of the best sub 30$ aged reds available at the LCBO or the SAQ. The nose is a complex mix of cedar wood, leather, a bit of bret, dark fruits, vanilla, and dried herbs. Elegant and restrained with matured fine grained tannins. Drink by 2021.
Castaño Colección 2013, Yecla
Spain$22.95
A most excellent Spanish red from the south eastern Spanish region of Yecla. Known for its monastrell this warm region delivers a complex sun packed red, made from 50% monsatrell and Cabernet-Sauvignon. Complex and quite flavourful, this wine pairs wonderfully with red and bbq meats. Drink by 2020.
Château Lafitte Tramier 2003
France$35.25
Excellent Médoc, produced during the infamous 2003 heatwave. Surprisingly fresh and youthful, with fine tannins and harmonious acidity, incredibly balanced. On the nose earth, forest floor, and red fruits are readily apparent, on the palate the wine evolves building complexity, combined with a long lingering finish. For 35$ very hard to beat!
Paul Goerg Blanc De Blancs
Champagne, France$47.25
Excellent champagne for the price. Notes of brioche, pear, and apple are apparent both on the nose and palate. Quite complex with a long finish. One of the best champagne under 50$ also available at SAQ depots for 38$, a steal. Bought 4 bottles for the holidays just around the corner. Drink 2017-2019
La Vida Al Camp Brut
Spain$19.95
Pretty good Cava, enjoyable and highly drinkable nothing super special but great for relaxing, or having with seafood and salads.
Errazuriz Fumé Blanc 2015
Chile$14.15
This wine was disappointing, although nothing is particularly wrong. It was difficult to pair with seafood, interesting! It was reductive and lacked complexity. What you tasted initially is what you got throughout the palate, no evolution of taste. Would not recommend this vintage even for the price.
Zuccardi Q Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Gualtallary & La Consulta, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$19.95
Great Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon shows good freshness of fruit with moderate oak influence. This wine is elegant and floral, quite complex with a good length of finish. The rating stands at 89 now, in the next 2-5 years will most likely be 90-91. Drink-2018-2022
