Zuccardi Q Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Gualtallary & La Consulta, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$19.95
Great Argentinian Cabernet Sauvignon shows good freshness of fruit with moderate oak influence. This wine is elegant and floral, quite complex with a good length of finish. The rating stands at 89 now, in the next 2-5 years will most likely be 90-91. Drink-2018-2022
Château Lafitte Tramier 2003
France$35.25
Excellent Médoc, produced during the infamous 2003 heatwave. Surprisingly fresh and youthful, with fine tannins and harmonious acidity, incredibly balanced. On the nose earth, forest floor, and red fruits are readily apparent, on the palate the wine evolves building complexity, combined with a long lingering finish. For 35$ very hard to beat!
Paul Goerg Blanc De Blancs
Champagne, France$47.25
Excellent champagne for the price. Notes of brioche, pear, and apple are apparent both on the nose and palate. Quite complex with a long finish. One of the best champagne under 50$ also available at SAQ depots for 38$, a steal. Bought 4 bottles for the holidays just around the corner. Drink 2017-2019
La Vida Al Camp Brut
Spain$19.95
Pretty good Cava, enjoyable and highly drinkable nothing super special but great for relaxing, or having with seafood and salads.
Chapoutier Marius 2016, Languedoc
Languedoc, France$13.95
Great little red from chapoutier, better then the 2016 Bila haut but less complex then the great 2015. Very easy drinking with good length.
Errazuriz Fumé Blanc 2015
Chile$14.15
This wine was disappointing, although nothing is particularly wrong. It was difficult to pair with seafood, interesting! It was reductive and lacked complexity. What you tasted initially is what you got throughout the palate, no evolution of taste. Would not recommend this vintage even for the price.
The Wolftrap Syrah Mourvedre Viognier 2016, Western Cape
Western Cape, South Africa$14.95
OK red wine from south Africa's western cape, a take on a southern Rhone blend. Notes of spice, deep red fruit mixed with smoke and wood are apparent both in aroma and on the palate. recommendable for the price, good with red meats and hamburgers.
Segura Viudas Brut Reserva Cava
Spain$17.95
Decent Cava not the most memorable but affordable and enjoyable would not pay over 15$ though.
Fratelli Alessandria Favorita, Langhe
Piedmont, Italy$25.85
Excellent White wine from northern Italy's famous piedmont region home to Barolo and Barbaresco. The wine is high in acidity with a long lingering finish. The complexity present in this wine is top notch. Notes of white peach with a bit of spice and good minerality. This wine is made from 100% Favorita genetically identical to vermentino. Great buy a definite repeat purchase.
Trapiche Pure Malbec 2016
Mendoza, Argentina$15.95
Good easy drinking malbec, filled with fruit and freshness. A definite crowd pleaser but nothing memorable here or worth specifically searching for.
