QPR - Quality to Price Ratio - is an important factor when you are buying wine. Whether it is $9.00 or $59.00 you want to feel your wine is worth the spend. I post my suggestions on my blog and on Twitter. As well I talk about my Cellar Treasures and review Wine Books.

Grant Burge The Holy Trinity Grenache/Shiraz/Mourvèdre 2008, Barossa Valley, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$29.95
Popular Rhone-style blend. Rose petal, red cherry (almost red licorice) on nose. Extremely well integrated (although you do feel a bit of heat from climate/alcohol). Lots of ripe fruit but good tannin/acid backbone. A must try!
Piper Heidsieck Vintage Brut Champagne 2004
Champagne, France$61.20
Lovely brioche nose with a touch of minerality - lemon and apple. The palate followed through with grapefruit, lemon, apple and a biscuity quality. Elegant mousse and a lingering finish.
Tasted Sept 12
Grant Burge Corryton Park Cabernet Sauvignon 2009, Barossa
South Australia, Australia$32.95
Classic nose of blackberry, cedar, tobacco. Rich mouth feel and long finish. Well integrated Napa-style cab.
R. Dumont & Fils Millésimé Vintage Brut Champagne 2004
Champagne, France$54.95
Bread and ripe apple on the nose. Palate crisp with minerality, green apple, lemon zest, melon, honey and some biscuit. Creamy mouthfeel Very good wine. Drinking well now.
Dr. Hermann Erdner Treppchen Riesling Spätlese 2006, Qmp
Mosel, Germany$16.95
Medium dry/sweet - this beautifully balanced wine with honey, lime and peach notes is creamy in the mouth and has just enough acid to keep it fresh with a lasting finish.
Trimbach Cuvée Frédéric émile Riesling 2005
Alsace, France$55.00
Small cheat as I tasted 2006 but this is a fine wine - Very focused dry Riesling - citrus (slight petrol) and honeysuckle on the nose. Tasted April 12
Roederer Estate L'ermitage Brut 2003, Anderson Valley
California, Usa$54.95
So pleasing for the price. Complex and well-integrated with deliciously doughy nose backed up by green apple and stone fruit.
St. Urbans Hof Riesling Kabinett 2009, Qmp, Ockfener Bockstein
Mosel, Germany$16.25
Such a beautiful wine. Enticing aromatic nose.Complex and rich with but very bright fruit. Long, clean finish!
Tawse Robyn's Block Chardonnay 2008, VQA Twenty Mile Bench, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$45.95
Always one of my very favourite chardonnay's - elegant, complex and fabulously balanced!
Trimbach Vendanges Tardives Pinot Gris 2000, Ac Alsace
Alsace, France$59.00
Honeyed marmalade on palate and nose. Interesting, not cloying dues to cleansing acide streak. Great year for V.T in Alsace. I am told there is a touch of BA too. Tasted April 2012
