I found this wine to have aromas of red berries, fig and fennel. While on the palate it was lightly tannic, with a light-medium body. Spice notes were more noticeable here than on the nose. Very good finish.
Tasted March 2012.
This review is for the 2010. A light ruby Rioja that is Grenache dominant. Red fruit is primary in this approachable easy going Crianza style, but there's good savoury characteristics and judicious oak influences (vanilla and spice). Light to medium body, there's some structure to support the dominant fruit with tannins present but subdued. Very good length. A bit of alcohol burn holds back a higher rating. July 2014.
The 2009 Palacios Remondo La Montesa Crianza is light to medium bodied, with fruity aromas of red currant and pomegranate on the nose and blackberry on the palate. Tannins are subtle and the finish is medium. Drink now or hold short term. My impression: NOTHING SPECIAL, 87 pts.
Tasted during 'The Wines of Alvaro Palacios' tasting organized by WineAlign on March 19th, 2012.
