The nose is very closed and it took 24 hours and some chilling to open up. Some stuff I've never smelled in red wine before such as candied orange peel and citrus. Cranberry, strawberry, roses, baking spice. Smooth and silky with that trademark Italian crisp refreshing acidity. The tannins have a ton of grip. It's a well-balanced elegant wine.
A good Barolo, even very good, but one that failed to excite me. This just seemed a bit contrived, lacking in that certain character that Nebbiolo can provide. Tasted Sep 2021.
