Domaines Schlumberger Kessler Grand Cru Pinot Gris 2010
Alsace, France$26.95
Medium intensity, golden straw in appearance. A complex nose with aromas of lychee, honey, apricot. Medium- sweetness with a medium+ weight. Excellent balance with quite a long finish. This excellent Pinot Gris from Alsace has both depth and breadth. Excellent value.
Wakefield Promised Land Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
South Australia, Australia$14.95
Youthful with aromas of chocolate, eucalyptus, blackberry and pepper. A nice medium-full bodied cab sauv. Ripe with good balance and nice length. Excellent value!
Batasiolo Bosc Dla Rei Moscato D' Asti 2011, Docg
Piedmont, Italy$14.95
Pale straw in appearance. An exciting and aromatic nose includes aromas of peach, honeydew melon, musk with a slight backing of lemon drop. Palate is medium-sweet with light body and low low alcohol ~5.5%. The balance is lovely in this little wine. Could be served with danish butter cookies, souffle or most likely on its own. Nice QPR!
Château Blaignan 2010, Cru Bourgeois Médoc
Bordeaux, France$21.95
Plummy colour with a medium+ intensity on the nose. The nose has a bouquet of wood, cedar, leather, mushrooms with aromas of dried fruit and herbs. The palate is dry with a medium+ weight and austere tannins. The finish is medium and acceptable.
Cave De Tain Crozes Hermitage 2011, Ac
Rhône, France$21.95
Black cherry in appearance with light+ viscosity. The nose has a medium intensity with leather, tar, earth, smoke and some dried blackberry and plums. The palate is dry and the body is light+. Of note is the good backbone of acidity present in this wine. Tannins are light and the finish is medium. I would drink this now given the lower tannin and lack of evident fruit. Would pair nicely with tomatoes, spicy sauces or medium cheeses.
Bottega Vino Dei Poeti Prosecco 2014, Doc
Italy$13.95
Pale straw with good foam. The nose is clean and pretty and includes nice melon and floral aromas. Palate is dry (Brut) and the body is light with good balance and a short finish. Would pair nicely with caviar, salty foods, Sunday brunch or in a Belini! Excellent QPR.
Hugel Sylvaner 2012, Alsace
Alsace, France$6.55
Pale straw and light in intensity and appearance. A shy nose with slight aromas of citrus and green melon. Average balance with a light+ finish. Drink now. It's fine but better wines can be had at this price point.
Hãhã Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, South Island
Marlborough, New Zealand$18.95
Pale straw in colour. The nose is clean with medium+ intensity and aromas of fresh cut gras, green fuits and gooseberry. Palate is extra dry and light with crisp acidity and a short to medium finish. Would go well with fried foods, goat cheese and turkey with herbs. Ok value.
