Château Suduiraut 2010, Ac Sauternes (375ml)
Bordeaux, France$62.85
A deep yellow wine with an intense nose of apricot, lychee, beeswax, lemon balm and buttery wood. The sweetness is medium+ with quite a lot of body. The acidity in the wine is absolutely spot on beautiful and the balance is impeccable. The finish lingers on for what seems like eons. This Sauternes has great ageability and will only improve over the next 10 to 20 years. Depth, Breadth and Length all around.
Domaine Du Grand Tinel Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc 2012, Ac
Rhône, France$49.95
This southern Rhone white from Chateauneuf Du Pape is golden straw in appearance. The nose is clean with medium intensity and some nuttiness, minerality, citrus undertones and slight smoky oak. The palate is dry with good acidity, balance and a medium finish. This wine has the ability to age another 4-5 years. Would go well with pigeon, tuna, nutty or smoked cheeses or smoked eel. However the QPR is an issue.
Château Fombrauge 2010, Ac Saint émilion Grand Cru Classé, Bordeaux, France
Bordeaux, France$45.85
This right bank red is a deep viscous plum colour with some garnet showing on the rim. The nose exhibits some leather, tar, tobacco, licorice. Some heat is also present. The palate is dry with sweet ripe round tannins and good balance. The finish is unfortunately quite short. This wine would pair nicely with charcutterie or lamb. Would have scored this a point or two higher had the finish been more lengthy.
Domaine Du Prieure Les Champs Pimont Beaune Premier Cru 2011
Burgundy, France$41.95
This garnet coloured Pinot brings with it a complex bouquet of leather, earth with aromas of stewed fruits. Tannins are refined with good balance and a medium plus finish. Nice wine!
Château Gazin Rocquencourt 2009, Ac Pessac Léognan
Bordeaux, France$32.75
A deep and dusty looking red with brick rim. The nose has aromas of chocolate, coffee, tobacco with some greenness and alcohol present. The palate is dry with medium weight and licorice-like tannins. The balance is good with a medium finish. This wine would pair nicely with a steak, rack of lamb, beef carpaccio or hard cheeses. Has some ageability and would consider trying again in 5-7 years.
