Hacienda Terra D'uro Reserva 2011, Do Toro

It's rare to see such old Toro arriving (for the first time) on Ontario shelves, but it's a pleasure to come across. It's fully mature to be sure, but still in good shape, replete with thick, jammy black fruit and the vestiges of abundant oak. The palate is dense and ultra-concentrated, like a tempranillo liquor. It reminds me of similar wines like Numanthia' Toro from the same region, which, at almost 3x price, makes this look like a sharp bargain indeed. Fans of big and bold and chewy wines take note. At peak I'd say. Tasted November 2025.
