Malivoire Small Lot Gamay 2016, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$19.95
Cherry is the dominant note from nose to palate. A just about noticeable, gentle minerality in the end. And, an almost funny carbonated feeling in the mouth (sparkling gamay anyone? Not me.)
Tenuta Olim Bauda La Villa Barbera D'asti 2016, Doc
Piedmont, Italy$25.20
This was a very pleasant surprise. Barbera (the few ones I had tasted) tended to be tart. However, this one has a welcoming fruit nose, a nice palate, and a dry finish, which combined subside the tart hints and make it a well balanced wine. It also has a very appealing dark purple colour.
Prà Otto Soave Classico 2016
Veneto, Italy$23.15
Enjoyed the lightness, the citrus subtle notes and floral hints.
Cave De Tain Grand Classique Crozes Hermitage 2015, Ac
Rhône, France$24.95
I enjoyed this Crozes-Hermitage very much. 2015 was such a good year in the Côte du Rhone nord, that "lesser" appellations have given us very affordable wonders such as this one.
Domaine Berthoumieu Madiran Rouge 2012
Southwest, France$26.13
Sometimes it's all about the pairing. Had this with some aged flank steak, caramelized onions and melted cheese sandwiches, and it worked wonderfully well.
Château La Fleur Pourret 2010, Ac Saint émilion Grand Cru
Bordeaux, France$39.95
Drink it now! (Feb 2018)
