Hacienda Terra D'uro Reserva 2011, Do Toro
Castilla y León, Spain$31.95
Excellent and pleasurable wine as described by all four experts. I have nothing to add to their descriptors. Very good QPR so we purchased quite a few bottles. Warning: If you have a Durand, use it to open this wine. Upon opening a couple of bottles with a very good two-stage cork screw, the cork split about 2/3 the length of the cork. I suppose this is because of age but very Disappointing.
Herdade Do Menir Couteiro Mor Grande Escolha 2015, D.O.C. Alentejo
Alentejo, Portugal$45.34
Very rich and luscious wine, but very heavy with wood flavours which bury the fruit. Wood is far too dominant for my palate. If you enjoy big wines with all those barrel flavours, then this is a wine for you. No finesse in this wine.
Castello Di Ama Ama Chianti Classico Docg 2021, Gaiole
Tuscany, Italy$45.95
Thankfully this one was purchased on sale. I wish I understood the rating and description of this wine. Its completely lackluster with thin fruit and strong acids.
Terenzuola Di Ivan Giuliani Vigne Basse Vermentino Nero 2021, I.G.T. Toscana
Tuscany, Italy$37.00
Enjoyed this from the recent Discovery red case. What a surprise and enjoyed with homemade pizza; a perfect match. Lovely aromatics and crunchy and light on the palate; really enjoyable! Would buy more if it was easily attainable.
Il Molino Di Grace Riserva Chianti Classico 2009, Docg
Tuscany, Italy$24.95
Rather furry on the palate and watch out for the sediment
J.L. Chave Crozes Hermitage Rouge Silène 2014
Rhône, France$31.00
SUPERB Rhone exactly as described by Mr Lawrason. An absolute delight with a wonderfully smokey, meaty nose and a lovely herbal palate on the lighter side but still delectable with great complexity.
Dido La Universal Montsant 2019, D.O. Montsant
Catalonia, Spain$36.30
Fine wine; very enjoyable. However, the ridiculous wax covering over the cork is a huge pain to remove. Very poor design.
Konzelmann Syrah Barrel Aged Reserve 2022, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$24.95
Not even close to the description. It is thin and quite flavourless and no perceptible nose. I purchased a case of it based on the winealign rating and we are quite disappointed. Doesn't come close to an Okanagan syrah.
Falernia Titon Vineyard Syrah Reserva 2017, Elqui Valley
Elquí Valley, Chile$22.95
Wooly is an understatement and the nose is very funky but it really delivers a unique wine experience; must enjoy with food; something grilled.
J.L. Chave Sélection Mon Coeur Côtes Du Rhône 2016, Ac
Rhône, France$22.95
Love this wine and the price tag; so much fruit on the palate and a lovely nose. If your a fan of Rhone wines the is definitely worth a try
