Finca Constancia Selección 2013, Vino De La Tierra De Castilla
Spain$13.25
THIS WINE WAS A REAL SURPRISE! Soft and highly aromatic, every sip very enjoyable. Maybe its the new wood but I got a very appealing spice note from the first sip with lovely fruit. This is underrated and for the price, well-worth a multiple purchase.
Domaine Des Terrisses Grande Tradition Gaillac 2012, Ac
Southwest, France$14.25
We were keen to try this one based on the reviews. Interesting flavour profile and initially very enjoyable; however, "the green turpy note" became predominant and ruined the experience. Too bad. Can't recommend this one.
Tormaresca Trentangeli 2012, Doc Castel Del Monte
Puglia, Italy$19.95
This is definitely not for everyone (McManus lovers stay away), but if you give this wine some time it is a delectable taste experience. The fruit along with its dry character is so appealing. This wine is definitely worthy of a multiple purchase.
Ernie Els Big Easy 2013, Wo Western Cape
Western Cape, South Africa$19.95
Superb value wine with a complex flavour profile. The juicy acids and herbal notes are immediately appealing. Worthy of buying multiples
Emiliana Novas Gran Reserva Syrah/Mourvèdre 2012, Colchagua Valley
Cachapoal Valley, Chile$15.95
What a wonderful find and at a great price. I agree with all of the reviews thus far. Definitely worthy of keeping a few around for the outdoor meals which will hopefully arrive soon.
Château De Gourgazaud Cuvée Mathilde Minervois 2011, Ac
Languedoc, France$14.95
Heaps of flavour here; the fruit is wonderful, nice tannins and a terrific buy overall. Definitely worth keeping a few of these around if you're fan of this rustic old world flavour profile.
Domaine Bousquet Reserve Malbec 2012, Tupungato Valley, Uco Valley, Mendoza
Mendoza, Argentina$18.95
Can't agree with the experts on this one. I found it soupy, raisined and lacking complexity. It was much better when cooled below 18C, but still wouldn't recommend it.
Avondale Jonty's Ducks Pekin Red 2011, Wo Paarl
Paarl, South Africa$16.95
Gentlemen, thank you for pointing us in the right direction. Excellent value. Quite rewarding; it's definitely zesty and the chocolate is there. Who could ask for more, these days at the LCBO, in a $15 wine.
Château D'or Et De Gueules Les Cimels 2013, Ac Costières De Nîmes
Rhône, France$15.95
This is a bigger than expected wine. Its a bit rough being tart and edgy but really, for $16, a steal. I am surprised that our experts didn't give it a higher score. Maybe they are afraid that its a little to rough for the typical Canadian palate.
Pan Riserva Montepulciano D'abruzzo 2010, Dop
Abruzzo, Italy$19.95
I should have waited for all of the pros to weigh in on this one. Oak, oak and more oak on the nose and palate. Green, resinous but thankfully some tannins to subvert the oak. A short finish and difficult to perceive fruit. As badly overpriced as it is over-oaked.
