Ontañón Crianza 2010, Doca Rioja
Rioja, Spain$16.95
I found this wine, initially, far too "woody". The oak is heavy and predominates, but after ~30 mins., it was much more appealing as the oak subsided.
Château Beauséjour Hostens 2010, Ac Haut Médoc
Bordeaux, France$22.95
Wishing for fruit and not finding it. Certainly savoury and the oak is there, overall I like it but won't buy another.
Santa Carolina Specialties Dry Farming Carignan 2010, Cauquenes Valley
Chile$18.95
Love it! A bit challenging on the palate due to its truly rustic flavour profile but so much fun. Lots of sour fruit as described by Mr. Lawrason, which for me, is delectable! Excellent buy and will definitely train & educate your palate.
Château Saint Roch Chimères Grenache/Syrah/Carignan 2018, Ap Côtes Du Roussillon Villages, Midi, France
Midi, France$19.95
Distinct seam of bitterness that detracts from the overall experience of this wine
Rymill Coonawarra Mc2 2015, Coonawarra, South Australia
South Australia, Australia$14.25
Sour, stemmy and green.
Santa Carolina Specialties Dry Farming Carignan 2012, Cauquenes Valley
Maule Valley, Chile$18.95
Excellent value wine; packs great flavours into its price category. Great nose and flavours that can evolve over time
Domaine Les Grands Bois Cuvée Philippine Côtes Du Rhône Villages 2015, Ac
Rhône, France$22.95
Great buy! As described JS, this wine is a real delight for lovers of Rhone style wines. Love the deep rich colour and interesting flavours on the palate. definitely worthy of a multiple purchase.
Lafage Côté Sud 2012, Igp Côtes Catalanes
Languedoc, France$14.95
This is a very good wine for price, but I have to agree with David, it leaves you wanting more simply because it seems to have significant potential.
Casa Castillo El Molar 2011, Do Jumilla
Murcia, Spain$17.95
Another great value wine with good depth and of course this is all about the Garnacha; in a word, succulent. Thankfully its not overly woody. Very good value yet again from this release. Thank you winealign!
Pinyolet Garnacha 2013, Do Montsant
Catalonia, Spain$13.75
Bizarre flavour profile and not for every palate. Very strong sour cherry flavour as described by DL, but its over the top and not enjoyable with food. Strong liquorice flavour as well.
