Baron De Philippe De Rothschild Escudo Rojo Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2023, D.O. Valle De Maipo
Maipo Valley, Chile$17.95
Fully ripe, almost rich and even with a fairly lifted nose of raspberry/redcurrant, fresh dill/tarragon herbality and subtle oak spice. It is fullish, a touch sweet and warm, but maintains a sense of composure. Tannins are tidy and fine. The length is very good.
Nice, 2 thumbs up. Red fruit, no bitterness, dry finish.
Herdade São Miguel Colheita Seleccionada Tinto 2022, Vinho Regional Alentejano
Portugal$16.95
Alicante Bouschet and Syrah, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and more. One of the best value Portuguese reds at the LCBO with complexity and structure beyond its price. It has nicely lifted blackberry, blackcurrant fruit, violet, pepper and a touch of evergreen. It is medium bodied, has good flavour and intensity.
Just OK, probably wouldn't try again.
Tezza Caporal Organic Red 2022, Igt Veneto Rosso, Veneto, Italy, Sustainable
Veneto, Italy$19.95
100% merlot without any barrel ageing. It is open-knit, generous and fruity with ripe raspberry/blackberry fruit, violet a chocolate nougat note and fine spice. It is medium bodied, rounded and a bit juicy with some heat. Tannins are fine; the length is very good.
Didn't care for this one. A bit cough syrupy, with a long sour finish.

Creekside Chardonnay Sur Lie 2025, Niagara Peninsula
Ontario, Canada$15.95
Crafted without oak, fermented in stainless steel and aged on its lees. A beautifully structured wine with flinty aromas, baked bread, toasted nuts, and fresh apple and peach. The palate is round and weighty, showing red apple, lemon, and subtle earthy notes, finishing long and smooth.
Poças Tongue Twister Vinho Verde 2025, Doc
Douro, Portugal$16.95
Light, crisp and dry Vinho Verde is based on the loureiro grape, aromas are lifted with orange, lemon, ginger and peachy fruit. It is light bodied, slightly frizzante and tart edged with a green spearmint and sappy finish. The length is very good.
Two thumbs up - zesty, bright, sour apple and peach. Great summer white.
