Losi Querciavalle Chianti Classico 2015, D.O.C.G.
Tuscany, Italy$19.95
Classically styled CC with dried fruit, herbs and earthy flavours. Med-bodied, with light tannins and good acidity. Wanted a bit more concentration.
Cederberg Chenin Blanc 2018, Wo Cederberg
Cederberg, South Africa$18.95
Full bodied Chenin here, with lovely floral notes and minerality to add complexity and interest.
Stoneleigh Pinot Noir Marlborough 2018
New Zealand$19.95
Very pale, almost like a rosé. Strawberries and fruit candy on the nose. Med bodied, with similar fruit flavours and a bit of minerality. Warm on the finish. Quite well typed, refreshing, with enough substance to keep it enjoyable. About as good a PN as you’ll find at this price.
San Pedro 1865 Selected Vineyards Carmenère 2018, Do Maule Valley
Maule Valley, Chile$19.95
Very nice style here. Fully ripe and widely appealing as the pros note, but with good varietal character for those (like me) who like carménère’s slightly herbaceous notes. Super balance, with tannins and acids all in line and carrying the 14.5% alcohol with no problem at all. A very satisfying wine that way over delivers for the price.
Rinaldi Moscato D'asti 2018, Docg, Piedmont
Piedmont, Italy$19.95
A fine Moscato d’Asti with concentration and something beyond the immediate pleasure of the penetrating muscat flavours and sweetness. Balanced and highly quaffable. Could there be anything better for a picnic?
