Quite pale in colour, but don't let that fool you. Along with being wonderfully aromatic, this wine has flavours to spare. Perfectly ripened red fruits, dried fruit, and yes, as JS notes, you can really sense the ash in the flavours. Silky in texture, with fine underlying structure and acidity and a long finish. This is a seriously impressive wine, and $22 was a fine price. Hope to see this wine again at Vintages. Tasted Feb 2018.
