From the warm vintage of 2012 and from the deft hands of Francois Morissette, comes another beautiful expression of cab franc. Six years old but just a baby in terms of it's prime drinking years. Elegant and charming, but structured. Red berry and cherry fruit still bright mingle with violets, spice and a saline minerality. Complex, balanced, long on the finish. If you have a couple or three in the cellar and haven't popped on yet, do so now as a benchmark to this fine wine's life journey. June 2018.
Well, this Cabernet Franc from Pearl Morissette is in an entirely different league from most Niagara CF. Still young and tight, the wine simply fills your mouth with complex flavours, mostly in the red berry spectrum. Hints of spice and vanilla from the mostly old-wood ageing compliment the flavours, not overwhelm. Silky, yet highly structured and long finishing. The best Niagara red I have ever tasted, period. Amazing now, but even better in 3 years...should hold for much longer that. Bravo Francois! Tasted Nov 2018.
