Medium ruby in colour. Not very complex either on the nose or palate and slightly confected, but the shnoz detects red berry and red cherry fruit, anise, herbs and oak (vanilla/mocha). Similar fruit/oak profile on the palate with medium plus acidity and medium tannin (it may have softened with a half year age in the bottle compared to the pro critics' assessment of tannin). Correct for Sangiovese. Good to very good length. Works well with tomato based pastas. April 2015.
Simple, straighforward red from Tuscany. Pleasant, if unexceptional red cherry fruit, a bit candied in fact. Finshes with relatively low acidity (esp for Sangiovese) and mild tannin. Quaffable, nothing more. Over priced at its original $19.95 price tag, even a bit of a stretch at the currrent $16. Drnk now. Tasted March 2015.
