I'm enjoying this big, fruity, juicy wine. Cocoa nose, promising a sweeter finish, so the acidity , fruity and lemony, is well appreciated, and balances the vanilla aroma, leading to a surprising fruity taste.
The 2012 Nugan Estate Alfredo Second Pass Shiraz, was pressed onto the pomace & lees of “Alfredo” grape Shiraz after fermentation and then matured in French and American Oak for 12 months, has rich notes of blackberry, vanilla and wood on the nose and black cherry, blackberry, prune and light vanilla on the palate. It is a medium bodied, dry, fruity wine; with checked acidity, refined tannins (decant for 15+ min) and a long, lightly metallic finish. This is a food friendly or party favourite wine; drink now and for the next 2-3 years (screw cap enclosure). Rated 87 pts. Tasted in Jul/14.
