The 2011 Jackson-Triggs Delaine Vineyard Syrah intense aromas of light apricot, forest berries, figs, lightly toasted old wood, cigar box and sweet vanilla. It is light to medium bodied, extra-dry, fruity to integrated wine; with good acidity, refined, dusty tannins and a long and silky finish. This is a food friendly wine, but enjoy it by itself; it will benefit from further aging – drink 2015-2020. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90-91 pts – recommended for its quality. The nose reveals a crushed black pepper, tamarind, campfire smoke, and ripe black fruit. The palate is mid weight but lean and focused, with a mineral edge and flavours of violet incense, black peppercorn and plum. Bright acid and fine grain tannin make for an appealing Rhone style red. Try with grilled lamb chops with rosemary and garlic.
