The 2011 Wente Cabernet Sauvignon Southern Hills, aged in American, French and Eastern European Oaks for 14 months, has intense aromas of blackberry, black cherry, black currant and vanilla on the nose and figs, oak and vanilla on the palate. It is a medium to full bodied, extra-dry, fruity to integrated wine, with checked acidity, refined tannins and a long and smooth finish. It is food friendly or enjoy it as a sipper; drink now to 2020+. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 89-90 pts – recommended buy based on quality to price ratio. Tasted at Churchill Cellars Portfolio tasting May/13.

One of the best wines under $20 to take to a party because it’s smooth, delicious and the alcohol is under 14%, so more to drink

Description: Medium ruby in colour with a medium to medium+ intense nose. This wine features light cedar, black cherry, blackberry, plums, cassis, vanilla, figs, milk chocolate, turmeric, cinnamon and a touch of pencil shavings. Medium body with smooth tannins, good acidity and a long length

Negatives: None

Drink now or in the next 2 years on its own or and pair it with ribeye steak.

Tasted: 14 July 2014
