Chateau St. Jean Chardonnay 2011, Sonoma County
Chardonnay
California, Usa
$18.95 (269738)
This is a pretty, quite complex and refined chardonnay for the money. The nose combines fairly well integrated, clove/nutmeg spice, vanilla, yellow apple/pineapple fruit and lemon. It's medium weight, with some sweetness yet good acid tension. The length is very good, the finish is very spicy, edgy and a touch warm. Score 88 (David Lawrason, WineAlign.com, Mar 2013.) The 2010 vintage is featured in Episode #3.2 of our "So, You Think You Know Wine?" video series.Critic Reviews (3)

A classic Sonoma chardonnay with a lot going on for the money. Expect aromas of baked apple, pineapple, lemon and...
Still a pretty good Chardonnay, enough fat and fed good citrus and pineapple flavors.

Light gold in colour with medium to medium+ intense nose.
I like this Chard, but the list price should be the sale price.
Positives: Light oak with lemon rind, pineapple, apricot yogurt, baked apples and limestone. Medium body with good acidity and a surprisingly long length considering this is an entry level Chard.
Negatives: A little sour on the finish.
Drink now on its own or pair it with lemon, pepper grilled catfish.
