Château La Brie Prestige 2009, Ac Bergerac

A very generously oaked Bergerac here (although good quality wood), with plenty of coffee bean and bitter chocolate...

This wine is a testament to the 2009 Bordeaux vintage. I have to agree with everyone here, but I give it a little more credit. Not just for the price. While it is an exceptional value, it presents well-balanced fruit, supple tannins and a soft finish. Medium to full body, with notes of cassis, black berry, menthol, espresso and pencil shavings. Although I am not sure it will age much longer than two years. Value buy 4/5.
As always, the vintage panel recommends a pairing with lamb...big surprise!

Not much to add to the notes from JS and the vinatges panel, except to confirm this is terrific wine for 13.95! The depth and structure are really surprising for this price. Back up the truck!
As others have noted, this wine is a nice value (though I'd have been disappointed had I paid 3x it's actual price!) with aromas of cassis, cherry, coffee and chocolate. The palate is dry and chewy with rich cherry and earthy undertones. I imagine it would be a nice match with red meat. In my view, it improves as it breaths a bit.
