88 - Points. Great value in this single estate-grown shiraz from northern Victoria. A quick visit to their website and you will find that the estate stretches over 350 hectares (865 acres) near the Murray River at Red Cliffs and that Deakin has received a Save Water Award for water conservation practices. "Somewhere" is a vineyard named Deakin Estate just south of Mildura.
Here’s a reliable under $10 bottle. Expect aromas of dark fruit and an interesting dried leaf thing go on in the glass. The body is full with more dark fruit and cassis in generous proportions; rounding out the finish is the characteristic pepper spice. Enjoy this one with bbq’d fare, but chill it slightly before serving. The summer heat will emphasis the alcohol in these big reds to the point where they can become too much. Tasted June 2012.

Blackberries, meat, and spices on the nose. It has plenty of fruit, but some green tannins. The wine is medium-bodied and good value at the price.
