Beringer Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Sonoma County
California, Usa$39.95
I discussed this wine with the sommelier at the Beringer Estate when I was there in April 2019. He said it was very cellarable, but we did not talk about specific vintages. I am going to say this could be drunk anytime.
Montgras Amaral Cool Climate Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Leyda Valley
San Antonio Valley, Chile$7.95
Herdade São Miguel Colheita Seleccionada Tinto 2020, Vinho Regional Alentejano
Portugal$17.95
A blend of 50% Alicante Bouschet, 30% Touriga Nacional, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah, this wine is bursting with ripe raspberry, mulberry and plum fruit backed by spicy black pepper, coconut and menthol. Pour with pasta, poultry or soft cheeses.[The Portugal Wine Trophy competition did not include a tasting note.] Score - Gold. (Portugal Wine Trophy, 2021)
A local-international blend of grapes, this "selected harvest" from the Alentejo pours a deep red ruby colour, and offers a waft of ripe black fruit on the nose mingled with Mediterranean scrub, scorched earth, and wood spice. It's supple and broad on the palate, warming at 14% alcohol declared, and with moderate tannins and firm acid backbone. Length and depth are good - a solid mouthful for the money, well made, stylish, with character. Drink or hold 2-4 years.
